Gabriela Gámez

Gabriela Gámez is IsumaTV's Director of Online Content. She works hand in
hand with filmmaker Norman Cohn, co-founder of Igloolik Isuma Productions
and co-creator of IsumaTV.

As part of Isuma since 2006 Gabriela has been responsible for different
areas of activities within the company. From 2007-08 she was in charge of
coordinating the creation and development of www.isuma.tv. In 2006-07 she
was the international coordinator for Isuma's Indigenous Film Network (IFN)
organizing high-definition video projection of aboriginal films to remote
Inuit, First Nations, and other indigenous communities across Canada and
internationally.

Gabriela is currently working on promoting new content and helping to
develop different initiatives for IsumaTV, from traditional singing and
music to the Inuit Language and Culture Institute (ILCI); an initiative
created to preserve, promote and revitalize Inuktitut language and culture
in the face of 21st century challenges of climate change, globalization and
mining development.

She has consulted on many social and cultural projects in Mexico and Latin
America with internationally recognized organizations such as UNESCO, ILO
(International Labour Organization of United Nations); and with the Mexican
Government. These experiences inspired her to find creative and deeper
methods of social and cultural collaboration, which is reflected in Isuma's
work. Gámez completed a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology specializing in
Cultural Studies at UNAM (Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México) and
studied Political Science at IBERO (Universidad Iberoamericana).  Following
