Bernhard Cella

Bernhard Cella is a Vienna-based conceptual artist who studied sculpture and stage design at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and at the Academy of Arts Hamburg. In 2007, he declared his studio a ‘model of a bookshop on the scale of 1:1’ called ‘Salon für Kunstbuch’. Four Years later, a second installation of the Salon was realised at the contemporary museum Belvedere 21. Cella is also the initiator of the NO-ISBN collection and of the research projects that emerged from it. In 2015, the first edition of No-ISBN-On self-publishing was published with Verlag der Buchhandlung Walter König, Cologne.

Recent exhibitions and performances took place at MoMA PS1 New York, Niagara Artists Centre St. Catharines, Anagram Books Berlin, and Kunsthalle Vienna. His works are included in the collections of Museum der Moderne Salzburg, Lentos Linz, Centre Pompidou, and CNEAI - Centre national de l’Estampe et de l’Art imprimé, and others.
