On the Origins of Androids is a collective presentation by Dutch artists Koert van Mensvoort and Floris Kaayk, alongside technology philosopher Peter-Paul Verbeek. Kaayk and Van Mensvoort will present their provocative cross-media projects, views on changing definitions of the natural and human, and visions of potential futures in post-natural environments where technology and the human body have become inseparable. Van Mensvoort and Kaayk will discuss what is likely or possible in a context devoid of technophobia and techno-fetishism, and instead, encourage thought about the desirable. Peter-Paul Verbeek will contribute to the presentation with an introduction to the ethical and philosophical questions raised by contemporary technological developments and how this interrelates with Kaayk and Van Mensvoort’s work.
