This workshop expounds upon the notion of affirmation of alienation, declared in Laboria Cuboniks’ manifesto Xenofeminism: A Politics for Alienation. Two members of their group will lead discussions and elaborate on the term, focusing on what alienation means and its usefulness for thinking politically in relation to our complex reality. How can alienation enhance rather than debilitate thinking and acting? How can the notion of Alien Subject(ivity) help mold our self-understanding as we orient towards a post-anthropocentric world? The first hour of the workshop is dedicated to presentations, followed by a two-hour group discussion on selected readings.
