One of the first science fiction television series; a forerunner of Star Trek. The low-budget epic lacked the resources required to stage elaborate spaceflight action sequences. Trapped within its compact control centre therefore Space Patrol was made up of tense dialogue and pyjama-like costumes (and with that coming close both to the claustrophobic tedium of real space travel as well as to Deep Space Nine, the spin-off of Star Trek). Most entertaining was the insertion of advertising into the series which was meant to make available the primitive space-gadgets to its earth-bound (child) viewers: “This is exactly like the one commander Correy has!”
