Part research-station, part media-laboratory, part docking-module, the structure of the Futures Exchange in the HKW foyer, designed by the Berlin architecture practice Raumlabor, will house interdisciplinary, process-based projects exploring the notion of futurity as a cultural construct. On Friday evening the Futures Exchange will culminate in a lively performative exchange as all the artists of the Salon Projects are going to be present for chats with the public.

Refering to one of the more infamous mechanisms of our global market economy, the pegging of commodity and resource trades at some future moment, Futures Exchange is an evening of alternative currency, unconventional transaction and non-monetary trading in the genre of Yves Klein's performative exchange of Immaterial Sensibilities. With a focus on the Salon Projects within the HKW Foyer, audiences can join informal conversations with artists and experts from the Free Culture Incubator, F.A.T. Lab and the Feral Trade Café. Also present will be Le Laboratoire Déberlinisation and their "currency for all Africa" the AFRO, plus I-Wei Li's VALU€S, a project that allows every visitor to know their exact market value in real time.
