OPEN WEB BOOK SPRINT
The 2011 Open Web Book Sprint will take place from January 17th until 21st January at Collegium Hungaricum (.CHB) in the lead up to transmediale.11. Five days, five authors from the non-governmental organisation FLOSS Manuals will be locked in the Book Sprint room at the Collegium Hungaricum Berlin and write together a book, daily from 9:00 am until 6:00 pm. FLOSS Manuals is a collection of manuals about free and open source software togehther with the tools used to create them and the community that uses those tools. The sprinters have no other information apart from the title of the book The Open
Web.
At 6:00 pm on Friday 21st January they will publish the complete book and the book will be available immediately for free as an epub, pdf, and a webpage from FLOSS Manuals here: en.flossmanuals.net.

DIGITAL ART + SOUND WEEKEND
From 28th–30th January 2011, transmediale, club transmediale (CTM), Create Berlin and a multitude of Berlin partners together invite to the inaugural Digital Art & Sound (DAS) Weekend. At DAS Weekend 2011, more than 70 independent organisations, venues and individuals active in Berlin will present their activities by setting up their own events and opening doors to their spaces. DAS Weekend aims to draw attention to the many artists, spaces and initiatives active in Berlin with great commitment and exciting ideas to promote artistic work and discourse in the converging zones between digital arts, experimental music and sound.
Please note many DAS Weekend participating venues have exhibitions and projects continuing throughout February 2011.

Press accreditation
Applications for press accreditation for transmediale.11 and CTM are available until 17th January 2011. Please register online under www.transmediale.de/pressaccreditation. If you have already registered, a second registration is not necessary.
Your media pass and a press kit can be collected at the press counter at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt (John-Foster-Dulles-Allee 10, 10557 Berlin), which will be open during the festival, daily between 10:00 am and 8:00 pm.
We offer you additional opportunities to pick up your media pass and press kit before the official opening of both festivals:

Press conference and preview
The press conference will take place on 31st January 2011 at 11.30 am at Haus der Kulturen der Welt. The curators of the different programmes of transmediale.11 will be there to present you the highlights and the programme of the festival. The CTM (club transmediale) will also present their programme.
On 31st January 2011, after the press conference, we offer you the possibility for a preview of transmediale.11. Artists and curators will also attend.

Press conference ARTE Creative
ARTE Creative is an international, editorial looked after and interactive network for young artists, cultural acteurs and everybody who likes to get surprised and inspired. ARTE Creative presents qualitative outstanding works from fields like art, pop culture, design and architecture. Together with the community the editorial department develops new, editorial dimensions and experiences at the cut surface web/TV. Besides cooperations with important universities, festivals and institutions, ARTE Creative wants mainly to improve the collaboration between young cultural acteurs form all over Europe. Further information will be published by the producer and participating artists and Creatives at the press conference in line with transmediale.11 on 2ndFebruary 2011 at 11:00 am at Haus der Kulturen der Welt. At the same time the press conference will be the extraordinary start of ARTE Creative: creative.art.tv - online from 2nd February on!
