Global Voices Online is a highly respected worldwide community of bloggers who follow online citizen media and digital activism – primarily in countries outside the United States and Europe. Global Voices Advocacy leads efforts to protect online freedom of  information and track threats/arrests against bloggers; and Rising Voices helps develop new citizen media projects in marginalized communities. Global Voices Lingua project is one of the largest online volunteer translation communities in the world. During this workshop, Sami Ben Gharbia and Solana Larsen will describe the inner workings,  successes and significant challenges of this global community, and help explain how you can get involved.
