Feb 6 / Preview of Day 6!

Feb 6 / Review of Day 6!

Today marks the last day of the transmediale.11, rounding out the festival with the final conferences, workshops, presentations and screenings…

Highlights include two keynote discussions in the auditorium, Life in Excess: Transpersonality and Autonomy in the Age of Biopower and Delimination of Life - Affective Bodies and Biomedia.

In the Theatersaal this afternoon and evening, two screenings look at identity and the Internet. In Live on TV, seven separate works by seven different directors, while a special screening of several of Lynn Hershman Leeson’s earlier films are brought together with curated works by Laura Sillars from the 1970s to the present day.

And if there’s anybody left wondering what those gigantic glass balloons were up to in the HacKaWay Zone all week, now is the time for all questions to be answered. Tonight’s final performance, bacteria orchestra, is an acoustic and performative installation that responds to the high number of poisonings and deaths of alcohol consumers in Indonesia, created through a collaboration of art and biotechnology using DIY and open source technologies. The project is an offspring of The House Of Natural Fiber (HONF), a new media art laboratory in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
