The transmediale archive is the last resting place of thousands of tapes and DVDs that have, for various reasons, been deposited there. Some of them, over the ensuing years have lost the labels which originally identified them, some of them maybe never had one. For the exhibition Ghosts Off the Shelf, transmediale archive curators Baruch Gottlieb and Ruth Kemper scan these mysterious tapes for clues and meanings. Canine Pyrotechnics reflects a personal and intuitive starting point, a sort of search engine string through which an unexpected traversal of the physical archive is generated. At the same time, it features two things which always look good on screen, animals and fire. We thank the unknown authors, creators, videographers, and performers.

Canine Pyrotechnics is part of CTM's Ghosts Off the Shelf exhibition. See more about this exhibition here
