In 2013, 78% of respondents in Russia believed that gays and lesbians are sick, immoral or psychologically disturbed people. Following the trend, there were many people who have earned money using the tag ‘homophobia’, because it is obviously profitable. One of the lucky business men is Maxim Martsinkevich ‘Tesak’ (meaning ‘big knife’ in Russian), famous neo-Nazi activist who formed a nationwide organisation Occupy Pedofilyai that claims to catch pedophiles, but in reality the social activists lure and torture LGBT people. The project is based on the practice of working with found footage, all videos were found on YouTube. The artist chose videos of Occupy Pedofilyai where very different young pro-activists from more than 50 cities catch ‘pedophilists’ and crush them out. Videos of Martsinkevich and his followers are extremely popular among Russians, Tesak has thousands followers on his page and more than 100 public pages. All activists have quite the same working scheme: the activists, who have never seen each other, ask victim the same questions and do the same aggressive actions on all videos. By dividing the video into typical questions and repeating it, the author deconstructs the video and constructs the step-by-step guide how to lynch people. The artist follows this mechanism of transgression to show the solidarity of intolerance.
Maria Kramar does not post the video on YouTube openly to the public because of the level of risk. She did show the video in several galleries, but not the online link itself.
